Nomination of Members

The Local Pension Board for the Cheshire Pension Fund has been in operation since 2015.  The Board consists of five members; a non-voting independent Chair, two Employer Representatives and two Member Representatives, as outlined in the table below:

*Michael Dixon stood down from the Local Pension Board on the 20 October 2016 for personal reasons.  The Pension Fund invited expressions of interest from Employers of the Fund to fill the Employer Representative vacancy and, following an interview process, Adrienne Laing was appointed with effect from 1 April 2017.

Four out of the five members of the Board have now been in their role for almost 3 years and, in accordance with the Board’s Terms of Reference, the Fund now needs to conduct a process to appoint (or re-appoint) members to these roles with effect from 26 June 2018 for a period of 3 years.

The Boards Terms of Reference also require that one of the Employer Representatives be nominated by Cheshire West and Chester Council who are the Administering Authority for the Pension Fund and that one Member Representative by the recognised Trade Unions representing active members of the Cheshire Pension Fund.

The Fund is, therefore, seeking expressions of interest for the positions of:

  • Chair x 1
  • Member Representative x 1

In terms of the Chair the Fund will appoint to this position on the basis of the expertise of the individual and will be seeking the most knowledgeable person to undertake this non-voting role.

Existing members can continue in their role, subject to re-nomination and in the event that no suitable candidates are found to replace existing Board members they will be invited to continue in their role for a further 2-3 years.  The Board have requested that new appointments are staggered to ensure continuity for the Board membership.
