Independent Person appointment
Cheshire Pension Fund is inviting expressions of interest from individuals with significant experience in pensions governance, investment and administration, to support our Fund in the statutory role of Independent Person.
The Independent Person will act initially in support of our LGPS Senior Officer, providing independent scrutiny, constructive challenge, and expert insight to support robust decision making and strong governance arrangements, in line with emerging LGPS regulatory reforms. As our governance evolves in light of statutory and regulatory changes, it is expected that the Independent Person will become a non-voting member of our Pension Fund Committee.
This opportunity will be of interest to individuals with significant pensions experience, either within the LGPS or other large and complex occupational pension schemes, who can demonstrate independence, professionalism and sound governance judgement.
Interested individuals or organisations are invited to review the attached role profile for more information. Those wishing to be considered for the role are asked to complete and submit an application form by 31 August 2026, which will be used to identify candidates to be invited to interview.
Data matching and the National Fraud Initiative
The Fund participates in the National Fraud Initiative exercise by passing information about pensions in payment to the Audit Commission. The information is matched to national databases to help prevent and detect fraud. The Fund’s participation in this exercise is mandatory.
