How do I retire?

Your pension is payable in full from your Normal Pension Age (NPA) which is linked to your State Pension Age (but with a minimum of age 65). 

However you can choose to retire and draw your pension from the LGPS at any time after age 55, provided you have met the two years vesting period in the scheme.

The Government has declared that the earliest age you can take your pension will increase from age 55 to 57 with effect from 6 April 2028. This does not apply if you have to take your pension early because of ill health.
