Pension Awareness Week 2026
Pension Awareness Week 2026: Take a Closer Look at Your LGPS Pension
This Pension Awareness Week (14-20 September 2026), we encourage all members of the Cheshire Pension Fund to spend a few minutes checking and reviewing their LGPS pension.
Your pension will provide an income in retirement, whether you're planning to retire next year or several decades from now. Understanding what your pension could provide and planning ahead are important steps towards a financially secure future. To help, we offer a range of tools and resources through our website and member portal.

One of the most useful features available on the member portal is the Retirement Modeller, which allows you to estimate your pension benefits from age 55 onwards. You can explore different retirement scenarios, including taking a higher or lower lump sum, and see how these choices may affect your retirement income. Why not use the modeller during Pension Awareness Week to help you plan for the future?

Five Things You Can Do During Pension Awareness Week

1. Check Your Annual Benefit Statement (ABS)

Most eligible members will recently have received their Annual Benefit Statement (ABS). This provides a snapshot of the pension benefits you have built up to date along with an estimate of your benefits at your normal retirement age.

Log in to the member portal at www.mycheshirepension.org and review your statement carefully. Check that your personal details are correct and that your pension benefits reflect your contributions and membership.

2. Review Your Beneficiary Nominations

While you're logged into the portal, take a moment to check that your nominated beneficiaries are up to date.
This helps ensure that, should the worst happen, any benefits payable can be considered for the people you wish to benefit.

3. Update Your Personal Details

Please make sure that we hold your current contact details, including your email address and home address.

Keeping your information up to date ensures we can contact you about important matters relating to your LGPS pension. If you've recently moved home, don't forget to let your employer and us know.

4. Explore Our Website
Visit our website at www.cheshirepensionfund.org to discover a wide range of information and resources designed to help you understand your LGPS pension and make informed decisions about your future.
5. Join a Webinar
Consider attending one of our upcoming pension webinars. Details can be found on your employer's intranet and are a great way to learn more about your pension and retirement planning options.
